Doctoral degree students are required to attend all of their scheduled clusters or institutes. Students are cautioned that they will risk withdrawal from courses and suspension or dismissal from the doctoral program should they miss institutes or clusters. Exceptions to this rule may be made in the case of illness and possibly in other hardship situations.

Such exceptions must be approved first by the course professor and then by the program director. Absence from individual class sessions must be approved by the course professor. Students are required to advise the program office and their course professor in advance of any anticipated absences.

Participation/attendance policies regarding the online components of doctoral courses will be covered in the syllabus of each course.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy:

NOTE: Students have the ability to withdraw themselves from courses using . If you experience any problems please contact your advisor.

Instructions on how to drop/withdraw from courses using WebStar.

Students are expected to withdraw themselves from courses in WebSTAR. Students withdrawing from their last or only registered course within a given term or students experiencing other problems withdrawing themselves from courses in WebSTAR should contact their program advisor. If necessary, students may submit a withdrawal request in writing via postal mail or assigned NSU email account. Requests for withdrawals received after 11:59 PM EST on the withdrawal deadline date will not be accepted.

Failure to attend classes or participate in course activities will not automatically drop or withdraw a student from the class or the university. Students who have not withdrawn on or before the withdrawal deadline date will receive letter grades that reflect their performance in the course(s). The program office will confirm receipt of withdrawal requests that are received by the withdrawal deadline date. When a withdrawal request has been confirmed, the transcript will show a grade of W for the course. Depending on the date of withdrawal, the student may be eligible for a partial refund.

THE LAST DAY TO WITHDRAW FOR THE SUMMER 2008 TERM IS: Sept 26, 2008

Refund Schedule for Doctoral Courses:

Students withdrawing on the first day of the term will receive an 80 percent refund of tuition paid. Students withdrawing on the second day of the term will receive a 70 percent refund of tuition paid. Students withdrawing on the third day of the term will receive a 60 percent refund of tuition paid. Students withdrawing between the 4th and the 14th calendar day of the term will receive a 30 percent refund of tuition paid. Students withdrawing between the 15th and the 25th calendar day of the term will receive a 15 percent refund of tuition paid. Students withdrawing after the 25th calendar day of the term will receive no refund.
