located in Sunrise, Florida. Honorary Degree Citation Charles L. Palmer Charles L. Palmer, you have dedicated your life to real estate development and investments. You have developed significant managerial and financial skills with your experience in business development and venture capital. You are currently President and Chief Executive Officer of North American Company LLLP, a Florida-based partnership whose activities include participation in specialty-acquisition funds (managed by North American), and investments in real estate development, managed through Sea Ranch Properties, Inc. Your quest for excellence began when you earned your B.S. from Georgetown University and your M.B.A. from Northwestern University, and when you were asked by your grandfather to manage the family business. You have shared your expertise while serving on several boards of directors, including SunTrust Bank of South Florida, the Performing Arts Center Authority of Broward County, and the Community Foundation of Broward. You are also a former member of the Board of Trustees of Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, the Board of The Downtown Development Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Board of Directors of The Learning Company, and the Investment Committee of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. You previously served as one of the initial officers and as Financial Vice President of Heizer Corporation and as a director of the National Venture Capital Association. You also held positions with Private Placement Division of Allstate Insurance Company and Price Waterhouse & Co. Throughout your career, you have taken numerous leadership roles and serve as chairman of AMTEC Precision Products, Inc.; J&B Meats Corporation; Culinary Standards Corporation; Polymer Design Corporation; Actown-Electrocoil, Inc.; UNIPOWER Corporation; and PCT Interconnect. Your philanthropic activities include a grant, in memory of your beloved wife, which was given to Pine Crest School to construct a dance studio. Charles L.
